A passport with a minimum of six months remaining validity and a visa is required to enter Viet Nam . A tourist visa is valid for 30 days. Visitors must obtain visa approval prior to entry even for *Visa on arrival* application. Visitors are advised to get visa on arrival only in emergency cases since it can be expensive incurring an extra cost for processing in addition to a rush free if the visa procurement service for individuals and groups. The procedure is as follows:
1) To get entry visas, visitors are required to inform Discover Vietnam of the following.
Full name
Sex
Date of birth
Nationality
Occupation
Passport number
Arrival and departure dates
Where to pick up visa?
These information are sent by email or fax to Discover Vietnam not later than 7 days prior to departure date to Viet Nam .
2) Discover Vietnam submits details to Immigration Department which normally takes 3-5 working days for processing.
3) The Immigration Department notifies Discover Vietnam of the visa approval code to the Embassy or Consulate of the applicant's home country.
4) Discover Vietnam sends a faxed copy or Email of the approval to the agent or directly to the individual concerned.
5) The agent should submit the client's passport, photograph and faxed copy of the approval to the Vietnamese Embassy or Consulate of the client's home country. In cases where Viet Nam has no diplomatic representation and therefore has no means of issuing visa locally, the agent should inform Discover Vietnam at the time of initial application with the preferred alternative location for visa issue.
Discover Vietnam has two kinds of service for an entry visa:
1. Visa at Viet Nam Embassy or Consulate from Discover Vietnam :
Cost: + US$ 25, - for * Visa Approval * + US$ 33, - per Visa.
+ free for * Visa Approval * (When you book Tour or 3 Nights Hotels up at Discover Vietnam) + US$ 33, - per Visa.
Processing time: about 7-10 days.
Necessary documents: one copy from * Visa Approval *, two Visa application forms (available in Vietnam Embassy or Discover Vietnam will send them to you), two sized- passport photos, passport (valid at least still 6 months), US$ 33 in cash to pay the visa charge.
After 3 to 5 weekdays the *Visa Approval* applied by Discover Vietnam will be sent to the Viet Nam Embassy or Consulate. Just contact the Embassy or Consulate for visa stamping, paying visa fees and mailing charge directly to them.
Please keep one copy of application form with a photo to show to Immigration officers at the airport on arrival.
2. Visa Upon Arrival from Discover Vietnam :
Discover Vietnam will fax or email letter of boarding as proof of visa arrangement on arrival to the airlines. Or the guest can do it himself with your Airlines.
Cost: + US$ 35, - for *Invitation Letter* (different saying: guarantee ) + US$ 40, - Visa Approval and US$ 25 in cash per Visa.
+ free for *Invitation Letter* (When you book Tour or 3 Nights Hotels up at Discover Vietnam) + US$ 40, - Visa Approval and US$ 25 in cash per Visa.
Processing time: 30 – 45 minutes at the airport.
Necessary documents: prepare two Visa application form (available in airport at the entry or in Vietnam Embassy or Discover Vietnam send it to you), two sized- passport photos, passport (valid at least still 6 months), US$ 25 in cash to pay the visa issuing charge at the airport.
After about 5-7 working days of the ministry of the interior you can get a copy *Invitation Letter* + *Visa Approval*, so that you can present them at the airline. You receive this Visa on paying for Visa fee (US$25 in cash) on arrival at the airport in Sai Gon, Da Nang or Ha Noi.
