Ha Noi – Ha Long – Sapa –
Bac Ha – Hue – Hoi An – Sai Gon – My Tho
(14 days / 13 nights)
Day 1: Ha Noi
Arrive at Noi Bai Airport. After transferring to the hotel, we begin
an afternoon cyclo city tour around the bustling 36 streets quarter
filled with traditional handicrafts. Free in remaining time at leisure.
Day 2: Ha Noi
Begin your exploration of the capital with the visiting the mausoleum
of Ho Chi Minh who led the country to independence. Visit his stilt
house and garden. Stop at the One Pillar Pagoda built to pay homage
to Goddess of Mercy by Ly king in 1010, then visit the Fine Art Museum,
the Temple of Literature, the most ancient university in Viet Nam, Quan
Thanh Temple the Lake of the Restored Sword and the bustling streets
of the Old Quarter. Enjoy the traditional water puppet show created
by Ly king in the 11th century.
Day 3: Ha Noi – Ha Long
Drive through the rural countryside to Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage
Site. Cruise on a junk for 5 hours within the bay. Visit grottoes beautifully
decorated by thousands of stalactites and stalagmites. Enjoy a fresh
seafood lunch on board.
Day 4: Ha Long – Ha Noi – Sapa
(Friday)
Have a fully morning for exploring the rest of Ha Long. And then return
to Ha Noi. We stop at Dong Trieu village famous for its ceramic wares.
After an early dinner, we board the overnight train from Ha Noi to Sapa.
Day 5: Sapa (Saturday)
Early in the morning we arrive at Lao Cai Station where we transfer
to a mini bus for a scenic drive through the forested mountains towards
Sapa. After checking into the hotel and breakfast, we take a walking
tour through the market towards Cat Cat village, home to the black Hmong
hill tribe. Visit Love Market by night.
Day 6: Sapa – Bac Ha – Ha Noi (Sunday)
Departing Sapa in the morning, we drive 130 km to Bac Ha located on
the eastern side of Hoang Lien mountain. We visit its market which swells
on Sundays when the Flower Hmong hill tribe people gather from distance
provinces to buy and sell goods here. Optional walking excursion through
the scenic countryside of Bac Ha. We drive to Lao Cai station in the
late afternoon to catch the 5:00 pm train back to Ha Noi.
Day 7: Ha Noi / Hue
Arrive in Ha Noi. A free morning for further exploration of this historical
city before transfer to the airport for the flight to Hue, Vietnam’s
ancient imperial capital has been recently recognized by UNESCO as a
World Heritage Site. Take a rest for the remaining time. You can go
for walk to have an general view on Hue in the evening.
Day 8: Hue
A full day sightseeing in and around Hue including a visit to Imperial
Citadel, a boat cruise on the Perfume River to visit Thien Mu Pagoda,
which is a famous Pagoda in Hue. Next, we make a trip to visit the elaborate
mausoleums of Emperor Tu Duc and Khai Dinh.
Day 9: Hue – Da Nang – Hoi An
Free at leisure in the morning. You can go to Dong Ba Market to buy
something, or once more go around this ancient city to take more pictures.
Traveling overland, we cross the spectacular Hai Van pass to reach Da
Nang. Visit the Cham museum which houses the largest collection of Cham
sculptures in the country. Continuing southeast to China beach, one
of the most beautiful beaches in Viet Nam, we have chance to see the
impressive marble mountain caves and the South China Sea. Finally, we
drive to Hoi An, a charming preserved old town in central Viet Nam,
where we can wander the delightful narrow streets and visit its historical
building.
Day 10: Hoi An
A full day sight seeing in and around Hoi An. Enjoy a walking tour along
the narrow streets of this oldest. Visit ancient house built nearly
400 years ago. Stop at Temple Bridge memorializing the Japanese trade
in the 17th century. Wander along the Hoai river bank to
see the sampans and fishing boats.
Day 11: Hoi An - Da Nang / Sai Gon
Transfer to Da Nang Airport. Fly to Ho Chi Minh city which used to be
Sai Gon, “The pearl of the Orient”. Arrive at the airport and transfer to hotel. Time for your relaxation.
Day 12: Sai Gon
City tour of dynamic Ho Chi Minh City taking in such sights as the Old
Saigon Post Office, Notre Dame Cathedral, history museum of ancient
objects and historical development. Visit Giac Lam Pagoda, the most
ancient pagoda in Sai Gon. Things for decoration are dated back some
hundreds years. Visit a handicraft factory and watch lacquer ware being
made.
Day 13: Sai Gon – My Tho
Have a comfortable two-hour drive through fertile paddy fields from
HCMC to My Tho. You will enjoy a cruise on boats and hand-rowing sampans,
viewing the daily activities of the local people along the tributaries
of the Mekong River. You will roam on the orchard islets where almost
all the tropical fruits of southern Viet Nam ananas, mango, melon, mangos
teen, and banana can be found and tasted. Moreover, you will have opportunities
to observe how people cultivate fruit trees and collect honey at local
gardens. Drive back to Sai Gon, to bustling China town and visit a Chinese
temple where the Chinese express their folk belief in many gods. Then
to Binh Tay market, the busiest in the Sai Gon. Dinner with Vietnamese
tradition music (Option).
Day 14: Sai Gon / Departure
Have free time until transfer to Tan Son Nhat Airport for the departure
flight.
