
Ninh Binh, 93 km south-west of Ha Noi, has evolved
into a major travel center in recent years. Although it is possible
to make a day trip from Ha Noi to Ninh Binh, many travelers prefer to
stay overnight in Ninh Binh to enjoy its charming beauty with less crowded
atmosphere.
Hoa Lu
Hoa Lu is within Ninh Binh province, located 100
kilometers from Ha Noi. Recently became the magnet to tourism due to
its magnificently scenic view of mountains, rivers as well as historical
relics.
Hoa Lu used to be a capital of Viet Nam in 1020 when
King Dinh Bo Linh took his crown after he defeated 12 regional armies,
came to the throne and constructed the city's citadel. The site was
a suitable choice for a capital city due to the natural protection afforded
by the region’s craggy terrain. The ancient Citadel of Hoa Lu
covers an area of 3 km2. The outer ramparts encompassed temples, shrines
and the palace where the king held court. The royal family lived in
the Inner Citadel.
The two temples on Yen Ngua Mountain dedicated to
the kings Dinh Tien Hoang and Le Dai Hanh offer tourists a glimpse on
Vietnam's image in the 10th century.
Tam Coc
Tam
Coc means three caves. At Tam
Coc, tourists can have an adventurous tour by making a boat trip through
these three
exotic caves.
Some
million years ago, Ha Long Bay used to linked with these limestone
mountains. According to the
researchers, vestiges of the ocean still remain through
the erosion of the mounts. Enjoy
to walk
through the fields to the temple in memory of Kings of Tran Dynasty
who fought against the Mongolians in the 13th century is
really an unforgettable memory and
experience.
Bich Dong
Bich Dong Pagoda is
regarded as the second most beautiful pagoda of Viet Nam (after the
Huong Pagoda). A
nice pagoda built quite long time ago situated at a poetic area.
Many statues of Buddha are conserved here. The bell tower is well decorated.
The incense and the sound of the bell seem to transfer tourists to the
holy world of Buddhist. It is good place for most pilgrims.
Cuc Phuong National Park
Surrounded by several
limestone cliffs, Cuc Phuong National
Park is considered one of the most important nature preserves, not only
in Viet Nam but also in the world.
Cuc Phuong National
Park in Ninh Binh province,
140 kilometers
south-west of Ha Noi, is famous for an variety of wildlife in 222 km2
primary tropical
forest. There are an estimated 2,000 different species of flora and the
450 species fauna which can be found in this National Park.
Besides, Cuc Phuong
is also famous for its dozens of picturesque caves, including Pho Ma
Cave, Thang Khuyet Cave, Con Moong Cave, and especially Nguoi Xua Cave
with many prehistoric stone tools.
